The Story

In the middle of the 19th century, cities along the Ohio river began populating with Swiss and German immigrants seeking opportunity. August Krogman, one such immigrant, settled in Perry County Indiana, working for some years in the coal mines, then risking $5,000 with a partner to build Indiana’s second only distillery. In 1863 the distillery was constructed and began production of bourbon, whiskey, and various brandies. With quick access to rail and boat along the Ohio river, Krogman’s whiskey quickly became a regional favorite, standing for quality and taste.
